TOP 3 PRICING mistakes PHOTOGRAPHERS MAKE

drop your email and get the replay link!

Pricing doesn’t have to be hard or confusing, but our industry makes us think we have to compete until we’re “good enough” to charge what we deserve.

I’ll teach you how to compete with everything in your business EXCEPT your pricing.

( WHETHER YOU'RE A SEASONED SHOOTER OR JUST STARTING OUT )

any of this sound (a little too) familiar?

Charging the “going rate” of what photographers are priced at in your area (or cheaper)

Only upping your prices

once a year

Telling yourself you’ll charge more when you’re “better”

Raising your prices then receiving no bookings

Feeling like you can’t possibly charge more than you already are, you’re barely getting enough bookings as it is

Dealing with clients who don’t trust you, value you, or make high demands

Exhausted working too much, but still not making enough

EXPERIENCING BURNOUT AND CREATIVE RUTS

THIS IS YOUR SIGN

And what I found is that everyone struggles with the exact same things when it comes to pricing.

Regardless of whether you’ve been a photographer for a 5 months or 5 years, chances are :

you're pricing yourself wrong

It changed everything for them.

It’s not just a set of formulas teaching you how to calculate your expenses, taxes, profit, etc etc. A quick google search can teach you that. But what I teach goes so much deeper than that.

Strong pricing strategies have given me

MONEY

BOOKINGS

PASSION

DREAM CLIENTS

VALUE

Being booked for reasons that have nothing to do with my prices or my work (even when I’m the most expensive photographer they reached out to)

the ability to preserve my passion so I can continue serving my clients, caring for myself, and showing up in my business authentically

money is energy, balancing what i invest in my clients and what they invest in me allows me to better serve them and myself

STOP GETTING GHOSTED. START CONVERTING INQUIRIES INTO BOOKINGS FROM YOUR IDEAL CLIENTS WITH EASE

Clients who truly value my worth, time, and talent and trust me fully

Lets take control of your pricing

Quantity of inquiries

Quality of bookings

The respect & trust we crave from clients

But most importantly – our passion.

What would you say your top 3 biggest blocks were when it came to your pricing?

When it came to my pricing, I think one of my biggest blocks was that I knew something needed to change to make my booking process more seamless for my clients, but I couldn’t quite figure out what was lacking. Mindset was another big block – I was afraid of coming off as “salesy” or making clients feel pressured, so I put the onus on them to ask questions about add-ons instead of bringing it up myself. Lastly, my final block about pricing was that one of the things that I love to shoot the most (portrait sessions) were priced in such a way that the only way I could make a profit was to book a lot of them. I was starting to feel burnout coming because I couldn’t keep up with the workload of all of the projects and making sure they all recieved the same high-level experience.

Were you experiencing issues before changing up your pricing?

Before changing up my pricing, I had prospective clients requesting 30 minute+ consult calls for 1.5 hour, $850 portrait sessions. Since my quantity of these inquiries and requests was high, I found myself spending hours on consult calls answering in-depth questions before the client had even booked–and then booking would either drag out over months or they would ghost. All of the time I spent consulting with prospective clients who weren’t ready to book was starting to eat into my time to provide value for my paying clients.

How long have you been a photographer?

I’ve been full time for 3.5 years.

What do you specialize in?

I specialize in destination intimate weddings and adventure elopements, although I do also shoot larger weddings for clients when our values are aligned!

Were you experiencing issues before changing up your pricing? (for example : difficult clients who micromanaged, always being asked for discounts, getting ghosted by inquiries, overworking to make enough $, feeling undervalued, etc)

What were your general charging rates beforehand vs now? (for example : I was charging $850 for sessions and getting ghosted on client calls, now I’m charging $1250 and booking majority of my inquiries with no problems)

Prior to changing my pricing, I was charging $850 for sessions and getting ghosted after consult calls. Now, I’m sending my pricing guide and then booking $1,250 sessions without ever having to do a consult call. Not only that, but clients are booking an average of $180 in add-ons with every single invoice I’ve sent out since changing my pricing.

What were the biggest changes you made when it came to your pricing? This can have to do with actual numbers, mindset, communicating your value, site changes, presentation, etc.

One of the biggest things I changed with my pricing was my mindset. I was so afraid of coming off as “salesy” that I didn’t offer things I knew would add value to my client’s experience. Instead, I waited for them to ask for a specific add-on or offering. Shifting to the realization that it’s my job to educate my clients and give them info about what I think could add value to their day– and that they hold the power to choose to act on that info or not–completely reshaped my perspective. Taking this mindset shift, I went through my pricing guide and changed my pricing structure for all of my packages and add-ons. I simplified my offerings and spent less time in my pricing guide talking numbers (they are still listed, but they aren’t the focus anymore) and spent more time diving into the different offerings and add-ons and why they may want to book those things. On my website, I edited my copy to spend less time talking about what is included in each offering and instead just listed my starting rate and why each package may be a good fit. And lastly, after thinking more on how I could offer add-ons in a way that felt good to me, I shifted my booking process to have a “proposal/services” section prior to the invoice so that clients can go through all of my add-on options themselves and select (essentially adding them to their cart) whatever add-ons they want without me having to get on a call with them and ask them what they want and then inputting it manually. This way, I have one more opportunity to educate them on the different offerings and why they might be a good fit and then the client gets to select those things themselves! This one shift has resulted in literally hundreds of dollars in additional revenue within the first two weeks of me implementing the change.

What’s been the best part about your new pricing system? (for example : clients trust me from the get go, no longer getting ghosted, averaging more $ per client, taking less bookings but still making more, feeling confident, etc)

In the first two weeks since implementing my new pricing system, I’ve been able to make twice the revenue I would normally bring in with the projects I’ve booked. India’s advice on how to communicate value and educate potential clients through the booking process has allowed me to make these bookings without having to get on a consult call – which for me is a huge win.

Do you have any advice for other photographers struggling with pricing themselves?

My biggest advice would be to really look at your pricing structure and see what ways you are limiting yourself without even realizing it. Honestly, before learning about pricing from India, I thought that my system was good, and that all I needed to do was just adjust my rates to reflect increased costs in my business. After going over my pricing with India, I gained so much clarity that one of the biggest things holding back my pricing was my mindset– once that shifted, I was able to implement pragmatic changes and those changes have resulted in a tangible increase in revenue.

Anything else you’d like to share?

Even if your pricing system is working, I’d still recommend learning from India about pricing/sales! Being able to take a step back and intentionally evalute your pricing and see what areas could be improved is so valuable–not just to us as business owners, but to our client experience as well.

What would you say your top 3 biggest blocks were when it came to your pricing?

  1. Not believing I was worth charging what I wanted to charge. I thought I wasn’t good enough yet and kept coaching for free and doing discounted sessions long past when I could have been charging and charging more.
  2. Being afraid people wouldn’t pay what I wanted to charge. Afraid they’d think it was too much and I’d lose a client. Thinking the only way they’d hire me is if I offered a “deal”. I projected my OWN money scarcity onto my future clients and assumed they couldn’t afford it. I worried so much about people that “wouldn’t or couldn’t pay” that I ATTRACTED people who wouldn’t or couldn’t pay.
  3. Thinking I was “taking” money from people who needed help, and that I should help people who were struggling for free. It’s my nature to give and love and help…and I had to realize that what I offered was so valuable and worth exchanging value for.

Were you experiencing issues before changing up your pricing?

When I was worried about charging “less” I attracted clients who valued it less. The most uncommitted clients I’ve worked with were the ones who paid the least.

I also began to resent the amount of time and energy and effort I was spending for the rates I was charging. It wasn’t enough to meet my business needs and my family’s needs.  This created a problem for me as a coach, because the last thing I wanted was to show up to my sessions with  resentful energy.

When I raised my prices to reflect the value I was offering, I began attracting clients who respected and valued the coaching. They showed up for themselves, committed to the work and got the best result. I showed up feeling excited and committed to the time I invested in them. Raising my prices created a mutual respect, commitment and investment between us.

What were your general charging rates beforehand vs now? (for example : I was charging $850 for sessions and getting ghosted on client calls, now I’m charging $1250 and booking majority of my inquiries with no problems)

I was charging $1000 for 3 months of private coaching. Now  I’m booking 3 month packages for $2500 and 6 month packages for $5000 and my clients are happy to pay it. Many renew with me and keep going.

What were the biggest changes you made when it came to your pricing? This can have to do with actual numbers, mindset, communicating your value, site changes, presentation, etc.

The biggest change for me was MINDSET. Discovering the life-time limiting beliefs I held about my ability to make money and charge what I was worth, and working through each one.

I spent the majority of my life doing the unpaid work of being a full-time mom, which I LOVED, but I had a belief that “husbands” made the good money or “career” women who had more education and experience than me.

India helped me develop confidence in my worth and value and open my eyes to the possibility of making six figures a year, doing what I was good at and what I loved!  She helped me realize the only thing standing in my way of creating the money I wanted was my own belief that I couldn’t do it.

When I started believing in the great value and experience I offer, I developed the courage to ask for what I was worth. The more I believed in the value of the results I give my clients that changes their lives, the more confident I felt saying my price. The more confident I felt saying it, the more confident my clients felt paying it.

My strong belief I am worth it attracts clients who believe I am worth it.

What’s been the best part about your new pricing system? (for example : clients trust me from the get go, no longer getting ghosted, averaging more $ per client, taking less bookings but still making more, feeling confident, etc)

Attracting clients who believe they are worth investing in and show up fully committed to get what they came for. They go all in, are willing to do the work and get the best results!

Do you have any advice for other photographers struggling with pricing themselves?

Let India help you! Not only does she help you change your mindset around pricing, which is EVERYTHING, she helps you do the math and figure out what you actually NEED to charge. She teaches you the HOW and the strategies behind it. When you look at how much you’re actually making after taxes and expenses, it’s much easier to clearly see the price point you need to be at. Instead of letting everyone else’s prices around you decide what you are worth, YOU get to decide.

Wherever you are, choose a price you feel amazing about right now. Amazing charging it and amazing receiving it. As your confidence and belief grows, your price will grow with you!

FAQ

How long will I have access to the course?
Forever! Once you sign up, you can watch this course as many times as you’d like at whatever pace you’d like. Revisit it as often as you’d like.
Do you offer payment plans?
For courses over $500 I do, but not this course in particular. Plus, it should pay itself off in ONE booking alone.
Do you offer refunds?
Due to the digital nature of my products, there are no refunds. All sales are final. If you are on the fence about any aspect of this course, feel free to DM me to see if it’s a right fit for you @indiaearl.
As I work through the course, will I have the ability to ask questions?
Yes! You can ask questions both in the private facebook group or directly under each training.
Is this applicable to photographers that haven’t gone full time?
Absolutely yes. If I could give my younger self advice, it would have been to invest in my education earlier on in my business, as it would have saved me a lot of time and made me a lot more money. Regardless of whether you’re going into your first year of business part time
Is this applicable to photographers who are making good money, but aren’t confident in their pricing system?
100%. I was 6 years into my business, making 6 figures before I implemented actual strategy based systems into my business. It has completely transformed how I view “success”, “rich”, and abundance overall. It gave me the ability to build my business around my life, rather than building my life around my work.
Will I find exact numbers to charge my clients by the end of this workshop?
Yes! There are extensive formulas created to guide you through every step of calculating your prices. After that, you’ll walk through step by step formulas for tracking and strategizing how to raise your prices based on your demand, clientele, and work/life balance preferences.
